PK controversy: Baba Ramdev to socially boycott Aamir Khan’s latest movie
Aamir Khan’s latest flick PK has been in the news ever since its first look nude poster released.
Even though the audience has been raving about the film, there are many
who have criticised the Rajkumar Hirani-directed PK. The
latest to join the bandwagon is Baba Ramdev. The Yoga guru has expressed
his hatred and anger over the anti-religious theme of Aamir Khan’s PK and also called for a social boycott of all those involved in the making of the controversial film.
Several FIRs have been filed against the Aamir Khan and Anushka
Sharma starrer. Baba Ramdev has asked all ‘Hindus’ to come together and
protest against the movie, as he feels PK is anti-Hinduism. Ramdev is strongly of the view that PK has propagates a wrong message against Hindus criticizing Hindu gods and goddesses.
“People think a hundred times while talking against Islam. However,
when it comes to Hinduism, anyone gets up and says anything. This is
shameful,” said Ramdev. Joining the ongoing controversy, he then went
ahead asking for a social boycott of people who speak against or
question Hindu culture and traditions in any way.
Baba Ramdev said, “There should be a social boycott in society
against those who are involved in making such movies. It has become a
hobby of some people to denigrate Hindu Gods and Goddesses…and insult
our saints.” Not only that, Baba Ramdev specifically pointed out Aamir
Khan’s name and said, “It seems like big personalities are fond of
insulting Hindu deities.”
While on Sunday, December 28, Bharatiya Janata Party leader LK Advani was slammed by theHindu Janajagruti Samiti for praising PK
and calling it a “wonderful and courageous film”, today the Bajrang Dal
activists attacked a prominent Ahmedabad theatre protesting against the
film.
Do you think all the fuss created around PK justified? Or
just like Baba Ramdev, are you of the view that the film has hurt the
religious sentiments of Hindus and focuses mainly on degrading only the
Hindu religion? Tell us in the comment section below.
People have to respect our viewpoint: Boman Irani on ‘PK’ controversy
Reacting to the controversies surrounding Rajkumar Hirani's latest
release 'PK', actor Boman Irani says people need to respect the
viewpoint of the makers.

Reacting to the controversies surrounding Rajkumar Hirani‘s latest release ‘PK‘, actor Boman Irani says people need to respect the viewpoint of the makers.
“People may agree and may even disagree but then they have to respect
it (the concept of ‘PK’) because we are also respecting their view,”
Boman, who has a key role in the film, said here.
‘PK’, which is doing well at the box office, has been getting mixed
reactions from audiences for its content. While some have slammed it,
saying it mocks Hindu traditions, a lot of people have called it the
best film of 2014.
It is a thought provoking film that stirs discussion as well and Boman feels that “any film worth a debate is a good film.”
“It is a point of view and you have to respect that,” said the 55-year-old.

Some of the groups including VHP are demanding a curb on such movies that hurt religious sentiments of Hindus.
However, the actor is not deterred by such groups, instead he feels
happy with their reaction because it has engaged people into discussion
over the sensitive issue as religion, god and godmen.
“Ofcourse people will (protest and create controversy)…everybody will
do. But it is so nice because everybody is having discussion about it
and anything worth a debate is a good film,” Boman said.

Further talking about Hirani, Boman said that his films always make people think and re-assess their own values.
“Rajkumar Hirani films will always have something to think about. You
agree or disagree with the film or you like or dislike a film, that’s a
different thing but his films will atleast make you think,” Boman, who
has worked with Hirani in films like ‘Munna Bhai M.B.B.S.’ and ‘Lage
Raho Munna Bhai’, said.
“His films will make you re-assess your own values and re-evaluate
yourselves saying “may be he is right may be he is wrong but I am
thinking” and that thought has to be respectful because he is respecting
the audience,” he added.
Featuring Aamir Khan as an alien, the film also stars Anushka Sharma, Sushant Singh Rajput and Sanjay Dutt.

PK Box Office Report: Exhibitors & Distributors On Its Advance Booking, Opening Day & Weekend Collections
the eagerness of the audience to enjoy
the cinematic treat from the successful actor-director duo, Aamir Khan and Rajkumar Hirani can be seen with fast pace filling of seats in advance booking.
With many factors like the star cast, music and the Christmas period
that will contribute in making good collections at the Box Office, here
is what the experts have to say about the advance booking, opening day
and weekend collections of PK. N.R Pachisia (Producer and Distributor – Mumbai):
The advance booking is going very well, and I think, the opening day
will be around Rs 27- 28 crores and the weekend collections will be
around Rs 80-85 crores. Apart from the increased ticket rates, it is the
Christmas period which will be an advantage for the film. If the
content is right, the numbers will grow; undoubtedly the collaboration
of Aamir Khan and Rajkumar Hirani has worked wonders which we have seen
with 3 Idiots;
it is the emotional element with a strong message which connects the
audience to Hirani’s films. Hence, after having a disappointed year with
many bad films, PK is the only hope to see the year end on a
happy note. And I am pretty sure that the movie will make big numbers
and will have a long run at the theaters.

Akshaye Rathi (Film Exhibitor and Distributor – Mumbai)
PK has already gone beyond Singham Returns, Kick, Happy New Year, and Bang Bang with
the highest advance booking through various online booking sites and at
the ticket window. I wouldn’t be surprised if the movie does not see
the highest opening day or the weekend collections, because this movie
is not in the rat race of showing numbers, but I will be surprised if
the movie does not run at a stretch of six to seven weeks. PK is
a dark horse which has the potential to mint highest collections with
its long run; and this being collaboration of Aamir Khan and Rajkumar
Hirani. The audience expectations are sky high and hence, the movie will
have a repeat value and will pick up with a positive word of mouth. It
will work well in single screens and multiplexes; metros, rural, big and
small cities and towns.
But a well-known Exhibitor from Gujarat has a different story to tell:
Advance booking is average to good, nothing like typical Salman Khan film or even Dhoom 3.
Craze amongst masses seems to be lacking here in Gujarat. The opening
day will be around Rs. 25 crore and the movie will make the weekend
collections of Rs 75 crore plus. However, with positive word of mouth
figures can improve.

'PK' (Peekay) First Day Collection at Box Office: Aamir's Movie gets Decent Opening in Bengaluru
Aamir Khan's much-awaited "PK" aka "Peekay" has opened to good
numbers of screens in Bengaluru. The Bollywood flick has been released
worldwide on 19 December and the first day collection in the Garden City
is expected to be decent.
'PK' posterFacebook/PK The Film
"PK" will have around 330 shows in Bengaluru and it is said to be the
biggest for an Aamir Khan movie after "Dhoom 3", which approximately
had 300 shows on the release day. The advance booking was started for
this flick started a few days ago and it got good response from the
actor's fans.
As per local traders, the response for the morning shows in the city
is average but the evening shows have met tremendous success. In most
multiplexes and single screens, the tickets for the first day evening
shows have been completely sold out in Bengaluru.
The occupancy ranges from 40-80 % for the shows of Aamir Khan's "PK"
in the city. A theatre owner says: "The craze around the movie is good
but no comparison with Aamir Khan's 'Dhoom 3'. His last-year's hit film
had got never-before response for the advance booking. But this movie
has not attracted the audience to that level."
"For the morning shows, "PK" is booked mostly by youths. But it is
the evening shows that is set to make a big differences. The tickets
have been booked in bulk by family audience and this ensures a good
collection for the movie in the Garden City on the opening day," he
added.
The biggest benefit "PK" is getting in Bangalore is that the film is
not facing any competition. Rajinikanth's Tamil movie "Lingaa" was
expected to give a tough fight to the film, but the negative
word-of-mouth has not helped it and the craze around the flick has
fizzled out.
The traders are hesitant to predict "PK" collection in Bangalore as
the film has met with decent response in the opening day. "Had the film
got a reception like "Dhoom 3", the film would have made a
record-breaking business in Bengaluru on the first day," says a trader.
Hello, here you will get all the news information about pk film from aamir khan .
Film Review: 'PK' falls short of Rajkumar Hirani and Aamir Khan's standards
Film:PK Starring:Aamir Khan, Anushka Sharma, Sushant Singh Rajput and SanjayDutt Directed by:RajkumarHirani Rating:***1/2 stars
WHAT’S IT ABOUT:
When the same actor-director pair of the outstanding 3 Idiots comes together on celluloid, the expectations are huge. But that’s something both Aamir Khan and Rajkumar Hirani have always known and they were expected to soar beyond them. However, their latest offering, PK,
somehow doesn’t quite measure up to their own standards. It falls short
on many levels. The film begins with an alien’s (Aamir Khan) landing on
Earth. When his ‘remote’ (which would enable him to return to his
planet) is stolen, he is stranded. On a new planet with people and
diversities he doesn’t understand, he is also given a new name (PK),
quite by circumstance. He soon meets news reporter Jaggu (Anushka
Sharma) who is fascinated by PK’s novel take on things and people. As the bond between them grows, Jaggu promises to help PK
in his mission to return to his planet. In this quest, how the two
overcome cultural divides, religious taboos and a scheming God-man form
the rest of the story.
WHAT’S GOOD:
Just like his earlier films, Rajkumar Hirani picks up a serious issue
and handles it in his distinct style – light-hearted but laced with
dollops of emotions. Hirani maintains his ability to tug at your
heartstrings (though rather scarcely this time) and the humour is
pleasant, satirical and effective in a handful of scenes. The dialogues
play a major role in helping an overburdened screenplay. The first half
of the film is enjoyable. Among the performances, Aamir Khan plays his
part to perfection with all the right nuances. Even though you’ve seen
him doing similar acts before, he has the knack of adding something new
to his character every time. Anushka Sharma
is the scene-stealer all the way – and that’s a remarkable achievement
in a film starring Aamir Khan. In fact, in some scenes between the two,
she’s actually the one who manages to keep your eyes glued on her. Her
spontaneity easily makes her one of the finest actresses from the
current generation.
WHAT’S NOT:
To say that PK is Rajkumar Hirani’s most disappointing film to date would not be incorrect. In all his earlier three films (Munnabhai MBBS, Lage Raho Munnabhai and 3 Idiots),
he managed to convey a message and entertain effectively and
effortlessly. But in this one, the struggle to make a point drains you
out. Even though the film is two hours and 30 minutes long only, it just
seems never-ending (especially in the second half). The similarities to
Akshay Kumar-Paresh Rawal starrer Oh My God are just too many
and that’s where the film suffers, losing its novelty. Add to that, the
preaching Hirani subjects us to with cliches like the Hindu-Muslim
angle, India-Pakistan friction and religious differences; hold on,
there’s even a bomb blast that has no relevance with the story line.
Anushka’s romance with Sushant Singh Rajput and their subsequent break-up is the most amateurishly scripted love story this year. Sanjay Dutt
has never been so badly miscast. The film meanders between Rajasthan,
Bruges and Delhi – for the first time in a Raju Hirani film, none have
any relevance with what the film is trying to convey. Technically too,
this is his weakest film – from cinematography to setting, scale to
music – all ranging between fair and below average. The continuity jerks
are alarming – why is Aamir having pan-stained lips in some scenes and
not in others? The long-winded expose of a God-man on a news show is not
just outrageous but challenges your senses and your logic. And then,
the icing on the cake is a father (Parikshit Sahni doing the SAME role
in his fourth film with Hirani) realising his folly at the end of the
show and holding his own in front of the Swami. It’s nothing less than
shocking that the collaboration of stalwarts like Vinod Chopra, Rajkumar
Hirani and Aamir Khan has resulted in something slightly above
mediocre.
WHAT TO DO:
If you’re looking for a film in the league of the Munnabhais and 3 Idiots, PK is not even close. But it’s still a must-see for many reasons, and by that, I mean the protagonists.
